BRING LIST
10th Grade Class Trip to Amazon
October 24th - 28th / 2005
It is important that students plan ahead and bring the appropriate equipment for the trip. Each student should pack all the below items, unless listed as optional. In the luggage specified. You will not have access to your duffel during the trip from Bogota to your first night's accommodation in the Amazon. The (daypack you will keep with you on the plane and boat). You will have to carry both the duffle and daypack at times and boat space is limited, so don't bring any extras not listed below. Teachers will perform the usual "custom check" before we leave CNG. Park service personnel may also check our luggage upon arrival.
Bring this list with you and don't forget to bring the most important item
POSITIVE ATTITUDE, YOUR I.D. CARD (original) and MEDICAL INSSURANCE

DUFFLE STUFF
___ rugged duffle bag for the itmes below. Everything inside the duffle should be inside a plastic trash bag, in case of rain
___ 6 t-shirts
___ 2 lightweight long-sleeve shirt
___ 2-3 paris lightweight cotton pants suitable for hiking in hot weather (jeans are too hot and heavy)
___ underwear and socks
___ personal medication and hygiene items. (incl. tiamina)
___ knee-high rubber hiking boots (pantaneros) with tread on sole
___ 5 paris knee-high socks that come above level of boots
___ outdoor sandals or shoes to get wet, for showering and canoeing
___ lightweight pajamas, or shorts and t-shirt to sleep in
___ reliable flashlight and spare batteries
___ one bed sheet
___ bath towel
___ bathing suit
___ 5 extra plastic garbage bags
___ 2 liters of extra bottled drinking water
___ this list and all other information handouts

DAYPACK STUFF
___ medium-sized, rugged daypack to wear when hiking, for carrying the following items, which you will want to keep handy. It should be lined with a plastic bag. Starred (*) items are necessary for all labs.
___ * full plastic water bottle(s) that does not leak; one liter.
___ * sunglasses
___ * sunscreen
___ * sun hat with brim; baseball cap will do
___ * roll-on insect repellent (no aerosol sprays)
___ * rain poncho (rain jackets are too hot in the tropics)
___ * bandanna
___ * half roll of toilet paper
___ * small notebook (TUFFY), pencil, pen and set of colored pencils, camera (optional) and binoculars (highly recommended)
___ book to read or playing cards for the first day (optional)

WEAR ON FRIDAY
___ comfortable, outdoor clothing suitable for traveling & hiking
___ light jacket or windbreaker
___ tennis shoes
___ bring money for snack stops. Money should be in small denomination (2000 and 5000), so that if buying souvenirs, exact amount can be given. Normally people don't have change. More than 50000 pesos are not advised.

DO NOT BRING
Pocket knives, tobacco or music players. The National Park strictly prohibits aerosols, weapons, pets, alcohol or drugs
